What is Mysore style class?

Mysore Ashtanga Yoga is the method of learning Ashtanga Yoga as taught by R.Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.
Passed on by his grandfather
Pattabhi Jois.

Mysore style class is suitable for all levels - even complete beginners. Each student is taught individually whilst in a group setting.
The student works with the teacher at their own pace during class.
That means no more comparison or struggling to keep up with the rest of the class!

The method requires each student to commit the practice to memory one posture at a time,
with new postures being added when the student is ready.

The teacher holds the space for each student providing guidance and adjustments.

The basis of the practice is – Breathing, Asana (posture) and Drishti (to gaze or where to look).
All of these terms put together is called Tristana and is the foundation of the practice.

When the student is practicing at their own pace they are able to focus on breath.
By connecting with  the breath and turning the focus inward the practice becomes like a moving meditation never before experienced.

If you are new to the practice of yoga you’ll receive personalised one to one guidance within the class.
For established practitioners your practice will grow and flourish with guidance.

Mysore style class is a safe, beneficial and most effective  way to practice yoga.

What is Led class?

Led class is the series of asana (poses) or vinyasa (movement with breathe system) counted in Sanskrit. Each asana (posture) is linked with inhalation and exhalation (breathing in and breathing out).

If you are new to the practice and feel like you would like to attend please discuss this with Michelle.

Please come back and visit to keep updated with upcoming classes & workshops.
